NEIGHBORS HELPING NEIGHBORS

Community generosity in the form of financial donations enables the pantry to provide a safety net for our neighbors that are struggling. We are responsible stewards of all the community resources entrusted to us. Additional financial support and food comes from the Food Bank of Central New York, and various government and foundation grants.

A donation of $30 will cover the cost of special foods for families who need a little help setting the table for the upcoming holidays. Your donation will be used to purchase traditional ingredients for a family to prepare and enjoy a festive meal: choice of turkey or other main dish, stuffing mix, potatoes, carrots, peas, cranberry sauce, gravy, fresh fruits and vegetables, and desserts.

  • What is planned giving?

Planned giving is a decision made by an individual to designate money or property as a donation to a qualified not-for-profit organization, and to receive the numerous tax benefits that derive from that generosity.

Why choose King Ferry Food Pantry for your planned giving?

A planning giving gift to the King Ferry Food Pantry will provide social benefits to our local community. In 2024, the work of the KFFP provided over 160,200 nutritious and culturally-appropriate meals to people whose lives have been interrupted by poverty or illness.

As an approved charity under IRS section 501(c)(3), KFFP is an eligible recipient of charitable gifts and trusts.

A planned gift to KFFP will go a long way toward helping individuals and families in need, and, in turn, will help strengthen our community.

What are the benefits of planned giving?

The need for charitable giving has never been clearer and the tax benefits of doing so have rarely been more generous. Government policies continue to allow significant tax benefits that make it financially appealing for donors to help support worthy organizations in the form of charitable gifts, both in their lifetimes and as part of their legacies.

    Charitable giving provides:
    - a charitable income-tax deduction in the year the gift is made
    - freedom from gift tax because no taxes are levied on charitable gifts
    - possible reduction or removal of estate-tax liability
    - a way to produce an income stream during life and a legacy to our community after death
Planned giving has also never been easier. Donations can be made in cash, IRA or retirement funds, stocks, bonds, real estate and other property, or you can elect to start a charitable trust.
